WASP Group Sailing for People With Disabilities

  • 11 Jun 2014

  • Otley Sailing Club

Whafedale and Airedale Social Pursuits Group (WASP)  in conjunction with Otley Sailing Club.

Sailability event for people with disabilities. Fun on the water in access boats supported by the clubs Sailfree team.

These sessions aim to offer everyone the chance to experience the exhilaration, self reliance and sense of freedom that sailing gives, regardless of their disability.

Whatever your disability we will try to make it possible for you to sail. Many people we assist have no previous experience of sailing.

Our boats are specially designed to be sailed by people with reduced mobility and dexterity. They are a specialised craft and will not capsize.

The session will be run by volunteers and members of Otley Sailing Club. Full rescue cover will be provided by qualified helms and instruction will be from dinghy instructors.

Buoyancy aids and wet weather gear will be provided on the day - or bring your own if you have some.
You will need to wear warm clothes and bring a change of clothes and towel- just in case you should get wet.

Hot drinks will be available to purchase but please bring any food you may require.
