JUNIOR RESIDENTIAL WEEK

Monday 18th  August to Friday 22nd August 2008

Juniors' Favourite Flag!

What a start to the week!

Weather, wind and weeds!

The weather forecast was not kind but somehow we managed to thread a path between the worst of the weather.

Tuesday was particularly difficult for sailing with juniors and support trainers stretched by wind and weed but by the afternoon fun was had by all. Although knots seemed to be a success, late in the afternoon one of the Picos took off on its' own and needed rescuing. Everyone needed a refresher on 'round turn and two half hitches' to make sure this was not repeated!

Wednesday started with poor weather but again everything improved with water football followed by swimming a great success.

Norman made sure everyone needed to clear up rubbish as people were just dropping their sweet wrappers on the floor, just like at home!!!

Wednesday night proved wet, wet, wet with some instructors sitting in inches of water inside their tents!

Thursday improved and everyone had the chance of rescuing live men overboard instead of the less cooperative Bobs.

I disco complete with 'Bouncer' finished a great day.

No photos yet but we will have some of the best soon!

The aims and objectives will be based on the following list. This year, I will be looking to the week being based on a more competitive basis. This will mean a total commitment from all participants to take active part in all, on water sessions. Where possible, youngsters taking part will be coached in their own boats, added skills - spinnaker drill and  trapeze work - will be taught in club dinghies.

FEE: £130

An enjoyable SAFE week.

  1. All levels of training to be supervised by a qualified RYA Instructor.

  2. Tuition in basic first aid skills

  3. An opportunity to develop further a sense of team spirit and co-operation.

  4. An opportunity for each individual to practice basic social skills.

  5. The space for each individual to develop their self discipline.

  6. The opportunity for each individual to compete both as an individual and as a team member.

THE PARTICIPANTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO :-

bullet

Share in the care and safety of all.

Failure to observe any of the above criteria may result in a child being asked to leave. In such a situation the fees would be forfeit. Experience has taught us that these simple commitments can make all the difference to the overall enjoyment of the week. A deposit of £50.00 is required to secure a place; this will only be returned if, after cancellation, we are able to reallocate the place.

If you have any doubts about your child's commitment to active sailing, please contact me before booking a place. Norman Stephens. norman.stephens@ntlworld.com
